Local Places of Interest
Alston Moor lies in the heart of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of
the North Pennines. It is a favourite visiting area for cyclists, ramblers
and hikers as well as holiday makers.
The Lake District, Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water and Forest are all within
easy reach of Alston Moor. On the Moor there are a number of attractions,
such as the South Tynedale Railway (steam), the Nenthead Mines, Killhope Mining
Museum which offer a wide range of interests for the visitor.
The C2C and North Pennines cycle routes go through the area, as does the Pennine
Way hiking route.
Holiday accommodation is in the form of self-catering cottages or B&Bs,
all invariably set in delightful scenic locales.
See our Links page for more details of some of these
attractions.
Whatever brings you to the area, we would be delighted to welcome you if you
are eating out!
